Prayers at Boston

I informed members of the BCCC at today's 10 a.m. Mass at St. James Church, gave a brief bio of His Eminence and asked every one to pray for him and your family.

Today we welcome 5 new Chinese members to the Catholic faith as Deacon Stephen Tong administered the Rite of Election during Mass. They will be baptized at the Easter Vigil. We rejoice in the growth of our community and the fruit of evangelization as we thank God for giving us Cardinal Kung and now welcoming him home.

Deacon Tong's homily also reminded us that when one is being tempted, confused, or down, one should seek God first, for as was promised in today's gospel, the Holy Spirit and the Angels were there. We are never alone! Deacon Tong paid tribute to Cardinal Kung's great faith and bravery as His Eminence never once wavered on what was the most important thing to him. Quoting Thomas Moore before he died as a martyr, Deacon Tong said: "I am the King's best servant, but God comes first." May we all learn to be more like Cardinal Kung so that we will be able to love God more dearly, see Him more clearly and follow Him for closely.
